Chicago Loop Real Estate

The Chicago Loop is world famous as one of Chicago’s busiest neighborhoods.  More well known for its towering office buildings and business enterprises, Chicago Loop real estate offers a large number of condos for sale – mostly of the high rise variety.  The Loop is – aptly enough – bounded by the main loop of the Chicago Elevated, referred to as “the El” locally.  The Orange, Green, Brown, Pink and Purple lines all converge on a circle that runs from Wells Street to Van Buren St to Wabash Ave and back over to Lake Street, but the neighborhood is considered to extend north to the Chicago River and east to Lake Michigan.  The streets with are busy and bustling and contain thousands of offices for Chicagoans to go to work every day, as well as serving as the seat of the Cook County government.  The Loop also represents the home of the most important cultural institutions of Chicago, such as the Lyric Opera, Goodman Theatre, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Joffrey Ballet.

While Chicago’s famous and distinctive skyline is spaced along Michigan Avenue, and Grant Park stretches before it, it might be easy to miss the many impressive condos for sale in the Loop.  Consisting mostly of high-rise condos in full amenity buildings, these homes for sale in the Loop represent some of Chicago’s most luxurious living, with doormen, valet parking, fitness centers and pools being almost de rigueur.  Sizes and floor plans among these homes for sale vary widely and a home buyer looking to spend less and still remain in the center of all the action will still fine some viable choices in condos for sale.  On the other end of the spectrum, some of the more premier condos for sale in the Loop will be represented by both rehabs of vintage buildings and new construction.  The homes for sale in the Loop barely suffered at all during the recent downturn, with values holding steady or dipping only slightly.  Already, increased activity has been evident and values of condos for sale have posted a strong gain in price of 14%.

There will never be a lack of things to do in the Loop, as it is well represented by theaters, restaurants, shopping and museums.  Although in the midst of the Loop there are not really any parks, Grant Park is an immense park that extends all along the waterfront of Chicago, with many attractions, including band stands, small cafes and even ice skating in the winter time.
