Ukrainian Village Real Estate

As the neighborhood’s name would suggest, the Ukrainian Village was the home of many Ukrainian immigrants during the late 19th century. Today the area is much more ethnically diverse but is still home to Ukrainian churches, schools, and banks.

However, the Ukrainian Village is longer just an immigrant village. Today, this unique neighborhood is home to beautifully restored historic homes, local businesses, artists, and young professionals. True to its roots, this area very much resembles a European town with neighbors greeting each other in the streets and gathering on porches or at coffee shops to chat. For families and professionals alike, the Ukrainian Village real estate market has plenty to offer.

What to Expect in the Ukrainian Village Real Estate Market

Home prices in Ukrainian Village have dropped recently, but still remain above the Chicago average. The average sale price in the area is a little over $300,000. That price may be slightly misleading compared to other areas of the city, as the Ukrainian Village real estate market offers more family homes and stand-alone buildings than the more urban parts of the city. This neighborhood offers larger square footage and a safer, quieter neighborhood, which is much preferred for some Chicago home buyers.

What to Expect when Buying a Home in Ukrainian Village

This area offers the perfect balance of big city life with a small town charm. Unlike the more densely populated areas in Chicago, having a car is not a headache in Ukrainian Village. Parking is plentiful, so if you choose to have a vehicle you won’t have the added expense of parking. If you choose to forgo a car, you still will have no problem getting around town. While not serviced by the El, the rest of Chicago is easily accessed through the public bus line.

Buying a Home in the Ukrainian Village

If you are looking into the Ukrainian Village real estate market, you won’t be disappointed. The area offers tons of shopping, dining, and entertainment options right next to single family homes and expansive floor plans. Unlike many other areas of the city, you won’t find high rise apartments with real estate agents swearing closets are second bedrooms. While condos are still popular, many properties in the area feature multiple bedrooms and plenty of space.  If you are looking for a larger home in a neighborhood with tons of character, you will be happy to call Ukrainian Village home.
